Our Range of Fire-Resistant Roller Shutters

A&C Maintenance’s fire shutters are engineered to deliver maximum protection in the event of a fire, while doubling up as a strong, secure barrier for daily use. With certified fire resistance ranging from 30 minutes to 4 hours, these steel roller shutters help prevent the spread of fire and smoke in a wide range of commercial and industrial applications.

Crafted from galvanised cold rolled steel and reinforced with a robust roller assembly, our commercial and industrial fire shutters are suitable for large openings up to 7000mm high and wide. All shutters can be supplied with single or double doors, optional vision panels, and a choice of stove enamel or powder-coated finishes. Standard Specification

Electronics/Controls

Battery backup is supplied as standard and is a mandatory requirement for all fire shutters. The backup system configuration (e.g. capacity, control logic) depends on the shutter size and use case.

Dimensions

• Suitable for electric operation on openings up to 7000mm high × 7000mm wide.
• Approximate shutter weight: 40kg per m² of door opening.

Curtain

• Made from galvanised cold rolled steel in interlocking curved lath sections. Utilises single skin 75mm scrolled steel slats in either 22 gauge or 20 gauge thickness.
• Malleable steel endlocks on alternate laths prevent lateral movement.
• Includes a T-section steel bottom slat, 49mm high by 74mm deep, for added reinforcement.

Bottom Rail

• Formed from steel angle in an inverted T-section to provide reinforcement and a secure seal at the bottom of the curtain.

Side Guides

• Manufactured from 3mm thick cold rolled galvanised steel channels, available in either 65mm or 100mm depths depending on shutter configuration.Guides are secured to the structure with continuous mild steel fixing angles for a robust and stable installation.

Roller Assembly

• The barrel is formed from mild steel tubing, with axle diameters ranging from 4" (10 gauge) to 6 5/8" (6 gauge), depending on the shutter width, height, and use case.
• The drive system incorporates either machine-cut gears or a chain drive, based on the shutter configuration.
• A tubular motor is provided as standard, with motor handing specified at time of order.
• Shutters include either a dummy end (for window applications) or a safety brake (for door applications), as required.
• Axle and drive configuration are determined by shutter size and operational requirements.

Endplates

• Each endplate is constructed from mild steel in a three-part design: inner back plate, inner cover plate, and outer endplate.
• One endplate incorporates the drive gears or chain system to operate the barrel.
• The outer endplate is sealed to the fascia and hood using intumescent tape, allowing expansion during fire conditions.
• Available in sizes ranging from 250mm to 450mm, based on shutter configuration.

Hood

• Supplied as standard, the roll-formed galvanised steel hood is essential for correct installation.
• The hood is delivered in two or more sections to allow for expansion during a fire, and intumescent tape is applied along the lower lip to maintain fire integrity.
• Available in standard sizes: 250mm, 300mm, 350mm, 400mm, and 450mm.

Fascia

• Constructed from roll-formed galvanised steel and supplied in two or more pieces to allow for fire-related expansion.
• Available in the same size range as the hood: 250mm to 450mm, depending on shutter configuration. Enhances fire protection and provides a clean finish for visible installations.
